Leviticus 1 - 5
While in the world we look for signs of
spring,
The scroll advances to the Priestly
Code,
Those regulations in an ancient mode
To which, in time and times' despite,
we cling,
Still learning how throughout our
wandering
The voice of G-d, which on Mount Sinai
mowed
Great trees, now held itself within the
Abode
To spell out purity and offering,
The algorithm of each sacrifice,
Just how to consecrate and to atone,
Lest, G-d's fire breaking out, great
harm befall
The unfit, or the Divine Presence be
withdrawn
From a cracked crucible. That's how
precise
Love is. Precisely may we hear love's
call.
