Genesis 18-22
He had been taken out beyond the world,
He had looked down on the heavens from
above;
That a new life might blossom from the old
He had seen the customs of the earth
dissolved.
Upon his own flesh he had carved the mark,
With his own hand completing G-d's design,
But now he felt G-d
reaching for his heart,
That all his
being might become a sign
Of G-d's reality beyond all generations.
He split the wood - and far down time the
sea
Divided. Raised the knife - and desert
rations
Rained from the future sky on a people
freed
From Egypt's bondage. Sacrificed and
spared.
Thus to all time, through Avraham, G-d
appeared.
