Deuteronomy 16:18 - 21:9

"That justice may be done wherever you reside,
You must have judges and police in every city;
The judges must be fair, not favoring either side,
Taking no gift, not swayed by fear, nor moved by pity
For murderous crimes you must blot out within your bounds.
In the Name’s dwelling-place a priestly court must sit
For cases that perplex the judges of the towns,
And to that high court’s rule all persons must submit.
And if you should desire a king like other nations,
Let him not multiply horses nor wives nor pelf,
Let him each day and night peruse these regulations
From a scroll he shall have made and keep close by himself.
Justice you shall pursue; this writ shall be the pledge
Of kings and judges who shall justly reign and judge."
