Genesis 41:1-44:17
Of the twelve sons that made Yakov a
nation,
Yosef inherited his father’s bright
Countenance and spirit’s intuition,
Though Yosef did not have immediate
sight
Of Yakov’s G-d, nor hear the voiced
command.
He saw truth in the rebus of the dream,
And it was given him to understand
And through discretion rise in men’s
esteem
From envy’s pit, from deep adversity.
His beauty was a thing the world could
see,
His wisdom was a thing the world could
use,
So with the stream of Egypt’s days he
moved,
Fruitful, forgetful, watchful. G-d
would send
His earliest dream’s fulfillment in the
end.
