Of history, when those the eternal Rock had fed
Would fatten in the land and dream their daily bread
Came from the world’s false gods. Upon them thus astray
Evils would avalanche, and many then would say
"The G-d who let this happen is gone from us, or dead."
G-d’s face would be eclipsed. The chain of those who read
G-d’s Law to apprehend its meaning for their day
Would fray to several ends, and all seem relative.
Still would the song well forth out of its ancient Source,
Calling us to return and look upon our course
Through the eye of the One, and find the links we’re missing
In all that has occurred, and how we are to live
Between G-d’s earth and sky... O listen, listen, listen.
