Deuteronomy 7:12 - 11:25

"Here in the wilderness you have been tried by dearth,
By the white sustenance your fathers never knew,
That bread not sown nor reaped nor baked on any hearth
That on the desert ground appeared like heaven’s dew,
To lesson you that man lives not by bread alone
But by each word that comes out of the mouth of G-d,
Yet notwithstanding you prevailed on Aharon
To make a thing to serve out of the golden clod.
Now in the land of honey, of barley, grapes, and wheat,
Pomegranates and figs, and olives yielding oil,
Beware lest you forget the Source of all you eat,
Imagining that you got this plenty by your toil
Or by the power of gods that have not sight nor sense,
Trusting in dust, and taking defeat as consequence."
